Wow,the Olympic opening ceremonies are tonight and I will be glued to the TV. If your anything like me, when our athletes and American Flag march in the stadium it brings tears to my eyes. It’s heartwarming to see our wonderful, talented young athletes, I wish them all good luck and the best of time while in China.
To honor the 2008 Olympics I want to run the “Olympic Special”. Any customer that orders a sport fabric in my sports collection you will get a discount of $8.88 (August 8, 2008). The discount code is Oly888, you will use this in the check out section where it asks for a discount code. The code is effective today, starting at 8:00 p.m. and will run until the evening of the closing ceremonies.

While I was up north and visiting some of the areas cute boutique shops, I noticed how popular polka dots are. They are everywhere! Clothes, dishes, ribbons, fabrics, paper, kids toys, stuffed animals, lunch boxes, you name it. They are so HOT!!! Have polka dots ever gone out of style? I don’t think so, they are cute, warm and fun.
I even designed my sister’s birthday gift around polka dots. Picture this…I found a beautiful yellow bowl with white polka dots and filled it with lemon coated malted milk balls, yellow cocktail napkins with white polka dots and a yellow polka dot ribbon. It also included other yellow items, a gift certificate, book and it wouldn’t have been complete without a yellow bag with polka dot ribbon. I looked at the gift and it brought a smile to my face! The color yellow is so cheerful and of course polka dots are happy circles.
I have to admit that polka dots came to mind when I started my business almost a year ago. It started with my logo. I’ve always loved polka dots, they remind me of a big smile face. They are crisp, refreshing and they have no end. That’s what I wanted people to feel like when they visited my web-site, happy! Couple that up with a feel good product and there you have it, the perfect gift and presentation. I have had so many comments on my site, business cards, brochures and wrappings. I’m sure it’s all about the polka dots!
What do polka dots mean to you? I’d love to hear your view so send me a note. For anyone who sends me their thought on polka dots before the end of July, 2008, I will offer them free shipping on their order starting today. You will receive the Polka Dot Special Code via e-mail once you have e-mailed me. Not only that, but I will post your comments on Polka Dots on my blog! Have fun.

How long has it been since I’ve blogged? Wow, over a month, where does the time go? I can’t believe it’s been that long. Summer is here finally and I guess I have been very busy with planting, yard work, spreading rock in the yard, and keeping up with the bare minimum on the inside. Then we had our deck re-done and that took about 10 days.
My son and I just had my daughters surprise birthday party a week ago Saturday and that took alot of time planning, coordinating and cooking. One of her best friends helped my son and I and thanks Michelle for the help. Nice job! Finally this past weekend we were able to go up north and enjoy the peace and quiet away from the cities. It is so relaxing and its hard coming home and digging in to paper work. I know there’s always going to be work and you have to have some fun too.
Today is my sisters birthday and three days ago it was my brother-in-laws so you can see we have been busy shopping and getting together. Happy Birthday Connie and Richard oh and my daughter Kim too for about the 50th time. ha!
I’ll have to get you up-to-date within the next few days and tell you about some upcoming specials. Stay tuned and I hope to be alot better about blogging in the next few weeks.
Enjoy your summer,

This past weekend it was opening fishing as we call it in Minnesota! The traffic going up north of the cities was congested, cars with boats allover and eager people waiting to get their line in the lake to catch their first fish of the season. Of course, the weather, well lets say it was cold and rainy. Alot of avid fisherman claim this is perfect fishing weather, they will be biting.
Personally I don’t think the weather has anything to do wiht it, fish are just hungry after a terribly long, long winter.
Many fishermen and women spend many hours in the boat. I have some great fishing fabrics to make you the perfect pillow to use as a back rest and neck support while fishing or reading in the boat. Maybe even snoozing!
Check out the fabrics under Sports on the PillowGram web-site. They would also make a perfect Fathers Day gift.

Maple Grove Ambassador Days are fast approaching and my husband and I are volunteers in the scholarship program for our city. I decided to have Maple Grove Crimson High School PillowGrams available in our booth. For every PillowGram sold, a kick back will go to the Maple Grove Ambassador Program. They will have the next school year dates on them so hopefully we will sell alot to the students. I will also introduce them to the different committee advisors at the school, travel teams and to the booster club at the school. I just received the fabric and I’m sure they will be a hit! Of course its Crimson Red, White and Gold!
PillowGram can do any school colors in the PillowCase, so if you are looking for a unique and fun keepsake for your high school student or someone going off to college, check out our web-site and give us a call so we can tailor them to your school.

I just sent a Graduation pillow off to Hawaii and the message read Aim High! It also had the school name and year of graduation on it. It turned out so nice and the Grandmother who send it to her granddaughter was so excited about it.
Being so far away from Minnesota, this was the perfect gift and message to send. She ordered the fabric, keyed in the card sentiment and the embroidered message. That’s it!
We took it from there…the PillowGram order was processed, wrapped in designer packaging and mailed to Hawaii all within one day.
It’s so easy to do, don’t forget to get your Graduation PillowGram orders in early. Its coming soon and you want to allow plenty of time.

A dear neighbor friend of mine is getting together with her close friends from high school and they are taking a trip to Las Vegas for some girlfriend fun. She stopped over this week as she decided to give them all PillowGrams for their trip. The perfect travel size pillow. As she picked out the fabric we decided to have it embroidered with “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas!” They are matching pillows with different colored embroidery threads so they can tell them apart. Is this cool or what?
This is thinking outside the box and fun reasons to give PillowGrams. They will also have “A Keepsake With a Message” that they will remember their trip for a very long time.
You go Girls!!! Let your hair down and have a super time!!! (Can’t wait to hear what did go on in Vegas when they get back.)

Would you believe in the Twin Cities area on 3/31 we received another 7-9″ of snow. I would have guessed Mother Nature was playing an early April Fools Day joke on us. Wow!! I hope your April Fools Day was uneventful. This is coming from a person who played jokes on everyone over the years. Yes I am guilty….and I’m also guilty of having Spring Fever. The robins are out and singing like crazy, it truly is music to your ears.
Even though the weather is warmer, ice is gone, sunny, even with the snow, we can get out and walk and enjoy the fresh air. My dogs love it too! It was a long winter for all of us.
Easter came early, so with April it will be the rain showers. Just around the corner is Mother’s Day and Memorial Day so remember to get your Mother’s Day PillowGram’s ordered soon. I did one this week for a customer that has pretty flowers, hats and hat boxes on it and the embroidery reads, “Love You Mom”. Most mothers would love to have that displayed in their home.
Don’t forget the military and their families too. We can send some wonderful messages.
Happy Spring….

(I am re-posting this as it was filed in my archieves and noone had the opportunity to read.)
Picture this? High Tea at a Mansion next to the Governor’s mansion in St. Paul, Minnesota. Yes that is what I did yesterday for a “Adventures in Brainstorming for Women in Business seminar, hosted by Beth Woodward, CPCC, CEK (Chief Executive Kid)
It was a delightful, informative, hard working, high energy seminar that was filled with fun and humor. The day flew by (5 hours) and we all left delighted with the ideas and information passed on to us. I met some wonderful entrepreneurial woman that I can’t wait to get more acquainted with and use them as some of by business resources.
Check out Beth’s website www.marketingontheplayground.com for her next seminar. You don’t want to miss it!
